Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
1. Who we are
FitConnect ("we", "us") is a professional network for the UK fitness, recovery and wellness industry. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
2. What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), account type.
- Location: the UK postcode you provide at signup. We only display the outward portion (e.g. "SW1A") publicly and use the full postcode to approximate your location on the member map.
- Profile data: headline, bio, qualifications, specialisations, employment status, avatar.
- Activity data: posts, comments, likes, poll votes and applications you create.
- Technical data: device, browser, IP address and basic analytics needed to keep the service running.
3. How we use your data
- To create and operate your account and public profile.
- To match you with relevant jobs, employers and members.
- To send service-related and (with your consent) product update emails.
- To detect, prevent and address technical or security issues.
4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)
We rely on (a) performance of a contract — to provide the service you signed up for, (b) legitimate interest — to keep FitConnect safe and improve it, and (c) consent — for optional communications you can withdraw at any time.
5. Who can see your information
Your name, headline, location (city/outward postcode), avatar, qualifications and public posts are visible to other members and to anonymous visitors. Your email address, phone number, full postcode and salary expectations are never shown to anonymous visitors. Employers and other signed-in members only see what you choose to display on your profile.
6. Data sharing
We share data with infrastructure providers strictly to run the service (hosting, database, email delivery). We never sell your personal data.
7. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from your dashboard. You can also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Cookies
We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are set.
